College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Baghdad Rehabilitates Its Veterinary Hospital and Re-commissions It into Service
In a major milestone reflecting its commitment to infrastructure development, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Baghdad has rehabilitated and re-commissioned its veterinary hospital after a hiatus of more than 25 years. Led by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Hameed Ali, and with official approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the facility re-opens to support applied veterinary education, scientific research, and clinical diagnostics and treatment.
Facilities and Capacity
Built over an area of 3,460 square meters within the campus, the hospital features:
- Clinical & Diagnostic Units: Reception, examination rooms, a large-animal examination shade, diagnostic laboratory, operating theater, pharmacy, waiting areas, and patient recovery quarters.
- Animal Housing & Field Facilities: A 1,320 m^2 cattle hall, a 160 m^2 sheep barn, a 105 m^2 canine shelter, and a 160 m^2 equine stable.
Educational & Community Impact
Equipped with a lecture and training hall, the hospital bridges academic theory with clinical, diagnostic, and surgical practice for students. This achievement underscores the college’s dedication to enhancing veterinary education, scientific research, and community service in line with University of Baghdad standards.
